Crispin's Selection Whisky Seminar Series is a recurring program exploring Scotch whisky through focused educational topics and structured guided tastings.
Each seminar combines deeper understanding with carefully selected samples, in a relaxed and social setting for people who share an interest in whisky.
Some events will be more interactive and workshop-like, while others will focus more strongly on theory.
Every event includes a guided tasting as part of the ticket price.
No additional alcohol is sold by the glass or bottle during the event.
What happens when Scotch whisky meets French wine?
In the first seminar of the series, we explore the fascinating relationship between French wine and Scotch whisky.
Through three carefully selected French wine influences and six Scotch whiskies, we explore how the character of a cask can influence the aroma, flavour, colour and overall character of the whisky matured in it.
The evening begins by exploring the principles behind whisky maturation; including cask type and size, previous fills, oak treatment, maturation environment, age and the decisions involved in determining when a cask is ready.
We then move from theory to the glass, comparing French wines with whiskies shaped by corresponding wine-cask influences.
Please note: All six Scotch whiskies selected for this seminar are peated, at varying levels of intensity.

This event series is designed for anyone interested in developing a deeper understanding of whisky:
from curious enthusiasts to those pursuing further education in whisky.
No formal whisky or wine qualification is required.

Following the structured seminar and tasting, participants are welcome to remain at the venue, revisit the discussion and connect with others in a relaxed setting.
Participants wishing to continue the evening will also find several bars and restaurants nearby.
